Help Build The Author's Mic™: The Voice of the Independent Author

I'm excited to announce a new project that's been months in the making.

In Spring 2027, Bright Headed Publishing will launch The Author's Mic™: The Voice of the Independent Author, a quarterly digital magazine created to celebrate independent authors and underrepresented voices.

Before we publish our first issue, I'm looking for two Founding Editorial Board Members to help shape the magazine from the very beginning.

Why This Magazine?

As an independent author, I've seen countless opportunities to be featured in magazines that sounded exciting. I'd read about the opportunity, reach out for more information, and then discover there was a fee involved.

Every time, I found myself asking the same question:

If I have to pay to be in this magazine, is it really a legitimate magazine?

I wanted to know that if my work was selected, it was because an editor believed it deserved to be there, not because I paid for the opportunity.

That's the publication I want to build.

The Author's Mic™ will never be a pay-to-play magazine.

Authors will never be charged to be featured, interviewed, or published. Every article, story, poem, and feature will be selected on its own merit.

My long-term goal is to build a publication that can eventually pay authors for sharing their work, not ask them to pay for the opportunity.

What Will Be In Every Issue?

Each quarterly issue is being designed to offer a balance of original creative work, author interviews, publishing insights, and practical resources.

Who I'm Looking For

I'm looking for two people who want to help build this publication during its inaugural year.

You do not need editorial experience.

I'm looking for people who:

• Believe in independent authors.

• Enjoy reading and providing thoughtful feedback.

• Like collaborating and sharing ideas.

• Can commit to helping produce the first four quarterly issues.

• Want to help build something meaningful from Issue One.

What You'll Do

As a Founding Editorial Board Member, you'll help:

• Review submissions.

• Provide editorial feedback.

• Help select content for each issue.

• Brainstorm ideas for future issues.

• Help establish the editorial standards and voice of the magazine.

What's In It For You?

As one of only two Founding Editorial Board Members, you'll:

• Be recognized in every issue as a Founding Editorial Board Member.

• Help shape the editorial direction of the magazine from the very beginning.

• Have the opportunity to contribute your own work for editorial consideration.

• Help establish the standards of a publication built on editorial merit, not paid placement.

• Leave your fingerprints on a publication designed to serve independent authors for years to come.

A Few Things to Know

• These are volunteer positions during the magazine's Founding Year.

• The commitment is for the first four quarterly issues.

• The inaugural issue is planned for Spring 2027.

• This is a digital-first publication.

• I'm not accepting article submissions at this time. Right now, my focus is building the editorial board first. Once the board is established, we'll begin accepting submissions for the inaugural issue.
