Let’s talk about audiobooks.
Because I still think a lot of indie authors are sleeping on this opportunity.
I hear the same things all the time.
“Audiobooks are too expensive.”
“I can’t afford a narrator.”
“That’s for big authors.”
“I’ll do it later.”
Maybe.
But maybe not.
Here’s what I’ve learned.
Audiobooks are becoming more important, not less.
People consume content differently now.
Some people love print.
Some prefer ebooks.
And some people barely sit down to read at all.
They listen.
They listen while commuting.
They listen while cooking.
They listen while walking.
They listen while cleaning.
They listen because traditional reading doesn’t fit their lifestyle.
That audience matters.
And if your book only exists in one format, you may be missing readers who would absolutely connect with your work.
When I worked on the audiobook for Weight For It, I learned something.
There’s more than one way to do this.
A lot of authors think it’s either:
Spend thousands upfront
or
Don’t do it at all
That’s not true.
You have options.
You can:
The point is not that every author must do audio tomorrow.
The point is this:
Stop assuming it’s impossible.
Do the research.
Look at your options.
Think strategically.
That’s what BTA Fridays™ is about.
Breaking assumptions.
Breaking bad advice.
Breaking the algorithm.
Sometimes growth doesn’t come from doing more of the same.
Sometimes it comes from looking at opportunities everyone else is ignoring.
And audiobooks might be one of those opportunities.
